The Vance Birthplace and the University of North Carolina at Asheville will offer an opportunity to meet and discuss the many contexts of North Carolina’s Civil War governor, Zebulon Vance. This symposium will examine the Southern Appalachian community that would shape our governor and the governor who would shape our state. With topics from the civil war to race relations, the goal is to engage the community in a discussion and shed light on our state’s history and issues of past and current significance. Register for these events at events.unca.edu.
